Keem Jiyoung pays attention to the structural problems behind seemingly accidental disasters, and the relationships between individuals and society that protrude therefrom. Since the Sewol ferry tragedy in 2014, Keem has been delving into the socio-political defects of the current world that contemporary disasters bring to light. As an attempt to perceive the contemporary era in a historical sense, Keem’s work focuses on social incidents and evokes a sense of connection between individuals and society.

Keem Jiyoung is an artist based in Seoul whose practice spans a diverse media including installation, painting, text, video and sound. Keem has held solo exhibitions at P21; WESS; Sansumunhwa; O’newWall E’Juheon, and participated in group exhibitions at various institutions including SONGEUN; DOOSAN Gallery; Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Gwacheon, and others. Keem’s works are included in the collection of PARK SEO-BO Foundation, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea.
